Answer:
Kansas City, Missouri is home to the Kansas City Public Schools (KCPS) district, which houses 33 schools within the metropolitan area. Their substitute teacher pool is large, and they have a Substitute Teacher Handbook for all information regarding substitutes. KCPS has four different tiers of substitute teachers, all of which pay differently. They are as follows:
1. Emergency Substitute Teacher: $123.40 per day
2. Certified/Standard Substitute Teacher: $132.60 per day
3. Long-term Substitute Teacher: $153.27 per day
4. Assigned Vacancy Substitute Teacher: $182.48 per day
Substitute teachers at KCPS work 8 hour days with a 30 minute, duty-free, lunch break. KCPS pays their substitutes once a month via direct deposit. If a person is a new substitute teacher, they will receive the first two paychecks in the form of a paper check via USPS mail while KCPS inputs their information into a computer system for direct deposit.
