For high school teachers, the beginning annual salary range was $47,811 to $52,670 while the highest teacher salary was $91,275 to $112,761. Lastly, for unified school districts, the beginning salary ranged from $44,318 to $50,029 and the highest salary range was $90,163 to $102,143. In general, the salary will vary based on the level of experience you have and what position you are looking to fill since more experienced teachers have higher salaries as well as those in higher job roles.
The National Education Association ranked California's 2018-19 average teacher salary as second highest in the nation.
