On average around 70 credit hours are from core, general and elective courses, 30 credit hours are in Business Administration, 20 credit hours in Accounting. Most Bachelors of Art in Accounting degrees are 120 credit hours. The credit requirements are similar to a BS in Accounting instead of Business Administration the coursework is more focused on communication, language and speaking. However, if you want to be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), it is suggested that you take another 30 credit hours to study for the exam. The credit hours for a Bachelor's of Science and additional study classes for a CPA is 150 credit hours. Some states require 150 credit hours to take the CPA exam. The credit hours required for the CPA exam could be used to complete a Master's of Science in Accounting.
