According to information published by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, the continuing education requirement to renew a Professional Educator's License is 8 continuing education units (CEUs). The North Carolina State Board of Education defines one unit of credit as "equal to one quarter hour or two-thirds of a semester hour of Institutes of Higher Education (IHE) credit, or ten clock hours of professional development."
