There are 41.7 contact hours in the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) in the Periop 101: A Core Curriculum Operating Room Nurse course. In addition, AORN recommends that nearly all of the required clinical hours be completed before taking the final exam. In order to earn the contact hours, you must score a minimum of an 80% on the final exam. It usually takes six months for an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) and up to one year for an inexperienced RN to complete the course and successfully pass the final exam. In order to obtain your certification after passing the final exam, you must complete the AORN final exam evaluation form.
