The Master of Business Administration (MBA) program at East Carolina University (ECU) can be completed on-campus or entirely online. The length of time to completion depends upon the individual student's preferred pace. The complete MBA program is made up of 54 credit hours, or 18 courses. Courses are broken into two categories: foundation courses and common body of knowledge (CBK) courses. Many students entering the program may be able to waive out of one or several of the foundation courses, depending on if they took courses of similar content in their undergraduate program. A student could possibly waive out of all 7 foundation courses, meaning that he or she would only be required to complete the 8 CBK courses and 3 electives. ECU has a limit of 15 credit hours (or 5 3-credit courses) per main semester, so a student who waives out of all foundation courses could complete the program in one academic year (including a summer semester).
