Epic keeps its training material private and only people who go to their headquarters or are approved by a healthcare provider that has contracted with Epic qualify for the training program. For a person who qualifies to take Epic Certification training, the timeline varies. The actual training classes as Epic headquarters take about two weeks. However, that is not the end of Epic training. After classes, students must complete a set of projects and tests on their own time. The Epic suggestion is that these be completed as soon as possible while information is fresh. Epic estimates that these self-paced projects and test will take about six to eight months; however, this depends on how well students retained the learning material and how familiar they were with the particular program that they were being certified in. Depending on where or how they worked in healthcare, students could be more or less familiar with Epic programs and modules.
