Answer:

The East Coast Polytechnic Institute (ECPI) offers a year-round, accelerated scheduling system in lieu of a traditional semester. This system allows students to complete a bachelor's degree in approximately 2.5 years, versus 4 years in a traditional semester system, and an associate's degree in approximately 1.5 years, versus 2 years. At ECPI, terms last five weeks, and students typically take two classes per term. Over three terms (i.e., 15 weeks; ECPI considers these 15 weeks a 'semester'), students are required to carry a minimum load of 12 credit hours and may carry up to 18 credit hours. The Institute's recommended load for a semester is 15 credit hours. Thus, a semester at ECPI University comprises 15 weeks. During each five-week term, students typically take one course that meets on Mondays and Wednesdays and one course that meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Classes generally meet for five hours per day, with breaks, and usually are scheduled from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 5:30 PM to 10:30 PM.
