Getting this certification involves going through various steps that can take 4 to 6 years. First, you will need to be a certified Registered Nurse (RN). For this, you will need to earn an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree. After completing your education you will need to take and pass the NCLEX-RN exam. If you successfully complete this examination you will be granted your RN license.
Once you have your RN license, you will have to go through 2 years of clinical experience in critical care. After you complete this requirement, you can take the CCRN exam to earn your certification. This exam can be very extensive and cover a lot of content so you should study enough.
