It will take you at least 12 years to become an OB-GYN (obstetrics-gynecology) doctor. If you want to pursue this career path, you will need to start by getting a bachelor's degree. Your bachelor's program should have a pre-med focus. This means that it should involve the necessary prerequisite courses to attend medical school. These courses can vary across medical schools. but the most common ones are chemistry, biology, physics, anatomy, physiology, statistics, and psychology. Once you get your bachelor's degree, which generally takes four years, you will have to get a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree in medical school. This degree also takes four years to get. The first two years of medical school will be in classrooms and labs and the last two years will be doing clinical rotations. After you complete medical school and get your MD degree, you will have to complete an obstetrics residency, which also takes four years.
