To become an electrical engineer, you will need to get a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field. This degree will provide you the necessary courses and hands-on training to pursue a career as an electrical engineer. As a result, it will take you around 4 years to become an electrical engineer. Keep in mind that a bachelor's degree will be enough to start your career in this field. If you want to reach higher positions, you will need to get a master's degree. Most master's programs take two years to complete and are mostly constituted by fieldwork. It is important that you choose to attend an electrical engineering program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). If you complete a non-accredited program, you will not be eligible for professional certification later in your career.
