Question:
How long does it take to become a fashion designer?
Perfect School Search
Answer:
Most people that want to pursue a career in fashion design get a bachelor's degree to start working in this field. Therefore, it can take four years to properly become a fashion designer. Even though there are some certificate and diploma programs in fashion design, most employers in this field require candidates to have a bachelor's degree or at least an associate's degree. If you are looking for a fashion design program, you should get in contact with the National Association of Schools of Art and Design, which is the responsible body for accrediting design and art programs. Besides your formal education, it is also important that you work on a portfolio even before you finish high school. This portfolio will showcase your skills and creativity to potential employers. It will also showcase your improvement throughout the years. Most fashion designers started their portfolios in high school and never stop working on it.
