In the past, the OCJP was once its own thing along with the OCJA. However, starting with Java 7, Oracle decided to shut down the OCJA and then split the OCJP into two different exams. So to become a Professional Java SE 8 Developer today; Oracle requires the OCA exam first, and then the OCP exam. What you will do first is take the advanced Java SE 8 training. After this, you will need to pass the Java SE Programmer I exam and earn your OCA. Lastly, you will need to pass the Java SE Programmer II exam. These 3 steps are all you need in order to get your OCP, which is the same thing now as if you had gotten an OCJP. The exam for your OCP will cost you $245, last about 150 minutes, and you will need a score of 65% or more to pass.
