The Association of Charted Certified Accountants (ACCA), founded in 1904, is a global accountancy body that provides advanced certifications and continuing educational resources for professional accountants. An ACCA affiliate has passed their qualifying exams (which may included up to thirteen total barring exemptions), but hasn't yet completed the remainder of their ACCA membership requirements. These thirteen exams (or "papers") cover relevant topics such as business and technology (BT), financial accounting (FA), taxation, and auditing. While exemptions may be awarded on the basis of prior credit, the students who receive them will not be eligible for individual certifications based on exam performance.
Once achieving affiliate status, students must complete their Ethics and and Professional Skills Module (EPSM) and Practical Experience Requirement (PER) before receiving their full membership designation/right to list ACCA under their credentials. ACCA membership is uniquely coveted by employers as it demonstrates a commitment to academic, practical, and ethical expertise in the accounting field.
