Answer:
The American Welding Society (AWS) offers certification and endorsements for welding inspectors.
To earn certification from AWS as a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), you must pass an eye exam, and be able to demonstrate required work experience and education. AWS has a list of the required documentation for demonstrating that you meet the work and education requirements to be eligible for certification as a CWI. The exam has three parts, a practical exam, an exam on using the codebook, and an exam on fundamentals. AWS has resources available, such as training courses to help aspiring CWIs. On the right hand side of the AWS website are links to various resources, including links to other certifications and the endorsements that CWIs can add to their certification to demonstrate mastery of various specialized areas in welding inspection, such as structural steel, welding vessels, bridge welding, and other endorsements.
