The Certified Management Consultant (CMC) designation from the Institute of Management Consultants USA (IMC USA) is an optional credential that may give you a competitive advantage as a management analyst or management consultant who will recommend ways to improve an organization's efficiency. For example, you may advise managers on how to make organizations more profitable through reduced costs and increased revenues, thus remaining competitive in the market.

To qualify for the Certified Management Consultant (CMC) designation, you will need to meet minimum levels of education and experience, as well as complete other requirements as outlined in the three application streams as follows:

  1. Basic: If you have between three and nine years of management consulting experience and a Bachelor's degree.
  2. Experienced: If you have at least ten years as independent or internal consultants, and meet the Basic requirements.
  3. Management: You will need at least 20 years of experience with at least 3 years of consulting, and meet requirements of the Basic track.

Once you meet the eligibility criteria you will need to pass a written and oral examinations.
