The ServSafe Manager Certification has a validity period of five years and ServSafe Alcohol, ServSafe Allergens and ServSafe Food Handler Certificates are recognized for a period of three-years.
In order to renew your ServSafe certificate, you must retake the examination for the certificate you want to renew before your current certificate expires. As there are different regulations depending on the state you are in, you must check the requirements beforehand and/or contact your local health department. You should take into consideration that some jurisdictions may ask you to attend the ServSafe courses in person, however, others may let you to take the courses online.
If you are allowed to do it online, it is important to take into consideration that once you start a course, ServSafe Food Handler courses must be completed in 60 days while ServSafe Manager and ServSafe Alcohol courses must be taken within 90 days. If you do not complete the courses in the period mentioned, you will lose your access to the course and will not receive a refund.
