While many jobs in Human Resources require a Bachelor's degree and some work experience, it is not impossible to obtain a position with a Master's degree and little or no work experience. Individuals should expect, however, not to reach the full potential of a Master's degree until they have at least three to five years of experience in Human Resources. This may mean getting one's feet wet by accepting roles which help to learn the ropes.

Try applying for positions that require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree to gain experience in Human Resources. On a resume or during an interview, focus on accomplishments achieved in class and in other jobs. Highlight coursework and emphasize work performed in group settings, times when leadership in one of those groups were assigned. Also highlight transferable skills, or skills that are easily transferable into an HR position, such as communication skills, people skills, organizational skills, and computer skills. All of these can be helpful in performing any main function in Human Resources. These tips should be helpful in getting a foot in the door and in gaining experience in order to ultimately maximize a Master's degree in Human Resources thereafter.
