Question:

How can a sociology major related to sales?

Perfect School Search

Answer:

A sociology major can succeed in jobs that involve sales because the study of sociology helps students understand people, including how to approach individuals as well as how to motivate groups of people. The coursework for a sociology major focuses on teaching students about human behavior. Sociology students learn how people develop societies, including how they establish cultures and form institutions. In addition, sociology students examine people's attitudes and values to better understand human behavior.

Sociology students also learn how to conduct research to learn more about specific groups of people. For example, sociology students usually have the capability to do surveys and other research needed to gather information about a particular group of people's likes and dislikes, including preferences for certain goods and services found in the marketplace.

This set of skills and knowledge makes sociology students well-qualified to handle jobs that involve sales of goods and services. While sociologists can work as salespeople, they also do well in jobs such as market researchers, public relations specialists, market/public relations analysts, social media managers, and fundraisers.
