Although Walden University may have open-book/open-notes tests for their various online programs, there are other forms of online test students may encounter, including:

*At-Home/Some Restrictions Apply

Commonly applied by online instructors, third-party, restricted internet browsers allow students to take the exam at home (or at another location of their choice), but they cannot access anything other than the test, at least on the device on which they are using to complete the exam. Although students using these specific browsers may not be able to access the internet, they can still use their notes and textbook, assuming that they are not on their device. Generally, these tests are timed, but some of them have no time limit.

*Proctored/All Restrictions Apply

In an effort to simulate a traditional test-taking experience, proctored exams are administered at an approved testing facility under the direct supervision of the on-duty proctor. Once a test begins, the student has no access to anything other than the test, meaning that they cannot use their notes textbook, the internet, or even a cell phone. If a student is caught cheating, they may face some serious punishments, such as receiving an automatic "F" on that test.
