Perfect School Search
Answer:
Baylor College of Medicine allows credits from advanced placement if they are included within one's undergraduate coursework. However, as for most medical schools, these credits will not fulfill coursework requirements. Generally, medical schools require students to demonstrate their academic eligibility by a variety of competitive accomplishments. Courses taken in high school for undergraduate credit don't present a viable option for proof of eligibility.
Baylor University has the following coursework requirements from students who wish to enroll in the MD program:
- Math, or any course with quantitative math such as statistics, calculus, physics
- Writing
- Social/Behavioral Sciences, including, sociology, psychology, anthropology
- Humanities, including ethics, philosophy, foreign languages, literature, art history
- Organic Chemistry
- Biochemistry
- Advanced Biology, including cellular or molecular biology, genetics
These courses should preferably range within 3 to 8 semester hours, while the behavioral science requirement is 12 semester hours. If students take any of these subjects in school for advanced placement, they have to complete the college-level courses with acceptable grades for their transcripts to be considered by Baylor. Baylor College also dispenses credit for online coursework.
