Appalachian State University offers a Master of Science in Engineering Physics. This program is very innovative, industry-driven and practical; it provides students with hands-on experiences and laboratory opportunities that teach them the fundamentals of the field. The curriculum is specifically designed to equip them with the skills and knowledge that prepare them to embrace a variety of fields including electrical engineers, systems engineers, automation and control engineers. Graduates may also pursue careers in other industries and research laboratories, or they may decide to get additional education, seek a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and engage in more research.
Students who are interested in pursuing this Master of Science in Engineering Physics are presented with three choices of concentrations. They may opt for the Systems and Laboratory Automation specialization that is designed for students seeking to enter careers in technical environment. This program is focused on automation, instrumentation and electronics. The second concentration is the Professional Science Master's (PSM) in Instrumentation and Automation that provide students with different skills and prepare them for the real world business. The third concentration is the Professional Science Master's (PSM) in Nanoscience for Advanced Materials that also offers students very practical experiences.
