The path to becoming a registered nurse (RN) is open to any individual with a passion for helping others and the desire to learn. An RN position typically requires an Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN/ADN) or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Both of these degrees are available at many accredited colleges and universities across the country. These schools are required, under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, must provide support to students with a documented disability. These accommodations will help ensure equity of access for you and other students with disabilities. It is important that you stay in contact with your school's ADA compliance person so that they can disseminate information to your professors and instructors about your accommodations. If one of your professors fails to provide those accommodations, you can speak to the ADA office regarding the incident. They are required to enforce any reasonable accommodations afforded to you under the 504 plan.
