It depends on the state in which you plan to open the medical spa and the scope of your licensure. For example, if your state requires you to work with a licensed physician in order to work as an RN (registered nurse), you may not be able to work at he medical spa with hiring a physician to work with you. If you are simply interested in owning the medical spa, rather than working there, you will have to review small business licensing information through your city, county, and/or state. Medical spas offer a wide range of services, from facials to surgery, and that range will impact the process of becoming a med spa owner. If you are opening a franchise (a new location of an established business), the larger corporation may have guidelines in place for new owners. If you are opening a standalone or independent medical spa, it may be in your best interest to speak to a business law attorney or specialist for guidance.
