A registered nurse (RN) typically holds either an Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN/ADN) or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), as well as a nursing license with that state in which they are employed. A professional nutritionist typically has a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition, or another health sciences field. Their certification or licensure depends on the state in which they live. If you are a working RN with a BSN, you may only need to complete a few credits in order to earn your degree in nutrition. If you have an ASN or ADN, you will likely need to complete four semesters (or two years) of additional coursework. You will need to become licensed or certified in the state in which you want to work, as well.
