Can a microbiologist open a laboratory?
Question:
Can a microbiologist open a laboratory?
Perfect School Search
Answer:
A microbiologist can indeed open a laboratory in most states of the U.S. However, they need to go through extensive education and training and may need to get a certification from their state. For a career in microbiology, aspirants can get a bachelor's degree, a master's degree, or a doctoral degree. A bachelor's degree prepares them for entry-level job positions in this field. A microbiologist with a bachelor's degree can work as a research assistant or a lab technician. On the other hand, a master's degree provides them more advanced job opportunities and higher salaries. Nevertheless, it is not enough to open a laboratory. Therefore, microbiologists that want to do this need to attend a doctoral program to get a Ph.D. A doctoral degree is the highest degree a microbiologist can get and allows them to work in academia or undergo their own research projects.
