Are Universal Technical Institute credits transferable?

Universal Technical Institute (UTI) credits may be transferable, but students have to ascertain that the receiving institution has a provision for accepting them. Since UTI provides highly specialized courses, they may not always translate into equivalent credits in other schools unless students transfer to another vocational institution. The qualifications one may gain by attending UTI are as follows:

• Associate of Occupational Studies
• Occupational Associate Degrees
• Diplomas
• Certificates

Students can gain a generous number of credits in return for vocation training received at schools like UTI. However it ultimately depends on the receiving institution to accept those or make the student repeat coursework. Like all other trade schools, UTI does not provide general education courses. Therefore students will only gain professional training and experience while attending UTI. Universities usually provide a list of approved vocational courses that can transfer credits to a student's curriculum requirement. Hence students have to consult such lists before beginning a transfer application.
