These analysts may focus on issues like streaming and live data and data migrations. Big data analysts may work for various companies, including financial services firms and technology service providers. Job responsibilities may include collaborating with personnel like data scientists and data architects to ensure streamlined implementation of services, profiling source information and setting characteristics, and executing big data processes like parsing, filtering, text connotation, and enrichment.

Big data analysts may be responsible for directing cross-functional and design workshops, as well as elicitation sessions. These analysts may also be responsible for creating business goals, best work practices, and technical requirements. Big data analysts must be able to determine trends in sets of data, accurately read data models and code, and develop data rules from their analyses. These analysts also must be able to develop solutions for real-time distributed data processing, as well as computational pipelines.
